Tasting notes
A captivating bouquet of dark berries whilst the palate is full-bodied and structured, with firm tannins and a long, savoury finish. Ideal with roasts, lamb and root vegetables.
Why we recommend this wine
During our trips to the Northern Rhône, we were always impressed by Domaine des Remizières. This Cuvée Particulière is a prime example of well-crafted Crozes-Hermitage, offering great value and a true expression of Syrah from this classic appellation. It's a wine that consistently delivers pleasure and complexity.
The wine
100% Syrah, sourced from vines with an average age of 45 years. The vineyards are situated on terraces with clay-limestone soils. Traditional vinification is in temperature controlled, closed vats lasting 20-30 days. The wine is then matured for 15 months in large 600 litre demi-muid oak barrels, a combination of new and used. The wine is lightly filtered before bottling. It is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
The wine estate
Domaine des Remizières is a family-owned estate now under the control of the third generation, a sister and brother team.. Originally the Desmeure family were typical Rhône Valley fruit growers with just 4ha of vines under cultivation. The harvest was sold to the Cave Coop in Tain. In 1977 the decision was taken to produce and bottle their own wines. The domaine has grown to encompass 38ha of vineyards including prime sites in Crozes Hermitage, Hermitage, Cornas and Saint Joseph all farmed using organic practices. The Domaine was awarded with a High Environmental Value Certification (HVE) which recognises the work they do to respect the environment and biodiversity in the vineyard.

Food and wine
This Crozes-Hermitage is wonderfully versatile and pairs beautifully with robust dishes. Think slow-cooked lamb shanks with rosemary, grilled steak with a peppercorn sauce, or a hearty lentil and sausage stew. Its peppery notes and firm structure also make it a great match for charcuterie and hard, aged cheeses. Refer also to our food and wine pairing guide, click here. [check quotes are correct]
Did you know?
Crozes-Hermitage is the largest appellation in the Northern Rhône, encircling the smaller and more prestigious Hermitage hill. While it shares the same grape (Syrah for reds), its more diverse soils and topography lead to a wide range of styles, often offering earlier drinkability and excellent value compared to its more famous neighbour.
