Tasting notes
Crisp, rich, herbaceous, gooseberry and citrus flavours with a long finish. Perfect as an aperitif or with seafood and goats cheese.
Why we recommend this wine
We have long been fans of the rich Sancerre sauvignons and this is an excellent example.
The wine
The Sauvignon Blanc grape excels in Chavignol ‘s rich, limestone soil, giving a crisp edge to the wine`s natural richness.
The wine estate
Established in the heart of the Chavignol vineyards, just west of the town of Sancerre, Domaine Andre Neveu have made wine for over five decades. The estate seamlessly integrates the traditional methods of Sancerrois wine makers with the best modern equipment. Valérie (André Neveu’s daughter) and her husband now run the domaine that has about 13 hectares of vines of AOC Sancerre red, white and rosé.

Sancerre has two types of soil - flintier (silex) soils nearer the Loire River and Kimmeridgian Limestone, the same soil as in Chablis Grands Crus and many great Champagnes. The Kimmeridgian Limestone is the basis for many of Sancerre’s very top wines and Chavignol is the village richest in these soils.
