Domaine Joseph Pascal 2022 Puligny-Montrachet

£33.20

Tasting notes
An unmistakable Puligny with florally lemony nose and taste. A luxurious aperitif but goes well grilled white fish and lobster!

Why we recommend this wine
We love Puligny-Montrachet and this is a classic made by a small family-owned winemaker.

The wine
The grapes come from half a dozen vineyards surrounding the town of Puligny-Montrachet. Hand harvested and fermented and aged in oak barrels for 9 to 10 months; 20 to 25% new oak. This adds a complex charm but retains a lovely concentration of fruit, displaying butterscotch and hazelnuts notes, and finishing with rich flavours of brioche and cinnamon.

The wine estate
A third-generation family winemaker that was founded in 1920 in Puligny-Montrachet and is now owned by Jean-Luc Pascal. It comprises 14 hectares of certified sustainable vineyards across four communes of Cote de Beaune; Auxey Duresses, Meursault, Volnay and Puligny-Montrachet. From the 2022 vintage, the wines have been labelled "Joseph Pascal" after the founder of the domaine.

Food and wine
A powerful yet subtle wine will enhance seafood, cold meats and poultry, but you must keep it away from spicy and tomato-based sauces. Refer also to our food and wine pairing guide, click here

Did you know?
The greatest Chardonnays in the world come from the 4 Burgundy vineyards that have Montrachet in their name. They are situated between the towns of Puligny and Chassagne and so both towns have added the name Montrachet to their names.
