Tasting notes
Plenty of dark red fruits with great tannins to cut the richness in rack of lamb, winter stews and hard, mature cheeses.

A great example of Merlot-dominated Saint-Emilion from a family that has been making wine for seven generations and that follows eco-sensitive practices.

The wine
This is a complex wine, opaque in colour and shows aromas of sweet blackcurrant leaf and a hint of cedar on the nose. Superb structure with solid, tight tannins and a long satisfying finish. The wine is made from 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. It is aged for 12 - 15 months in oak, 50% of which is new oak.

The wine estate
Clos de la Cure is a beautiful walled vineyard of just over 6 hectares located near the old church of St Christophe-des-Bardes, perched on the heights of the St Emilion plateau. It is owned by the Bouyer-Arteau family. The vineyard shares the same soil structure as Château Cheval Blanc - gravel and clay with a proportion of iron-rich deposits - which gives an idea of its pedigree.

Did you know?
The village of St Emilion is a protected, Unesco, world heritage site. It takes its name from a Benedictine Monk, Emilian, who lived in the area in the 8th century and is credited with starting to create the uniquely designed, limestone church that is in the middle of the village of St Emilion.
