Tasting notes
Aromas of redcurrant and strawberry, accompanied by a subtle woody note. On the palate, silky tannins give the wine exceptional roundness. Ideal with charcuterie/cheese platters, but also any type of white meat, especially, so the wine maker says, a nice roast chicken!

Why we recommend this wine
The Pomerol appellation is host to some of the most expensive wines in Bordeaux. To find something affordable but still good one has to go to the fringe appellations such as Lalande, which we do when in Bordeaux. This is a fine example.

The wine
The blend for this wine is 72% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% cabernet franc, 3% malbec. The grapes are destemmed and crushed, then cold-macerated for five days to extract maximum aromas. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are carried out in vats. The wine is aged in oak barrels for 12 months before bottling

The wine estate
The chateau is a fourth generation, family-owned estate. In 2019 Château des Moines officially obtained “High Environmental Value” level 3 certification for its products. Through our various sustainable farming practices, we have achieved the highest level of certification, guaranteeing a respectful approach to viticulture, biodiversity and ecosystems.
