Tasting notes
Clean and refreshing with crisp acidity and a creamy texture. Aromas of citrus, green apple, and subtle vanilla lead to a palate with flavors of ripe pear and hints of butter. Drink with Roast chicken, salmon, or creamy pasta sauces

Why we recommend this wine
Australian Chardonnays got a reputation for heavy oak but the oak in this is far more subtle.

The wine
The 100% Chardonnay grapes come from vines in the fertile soils of the Deakin Estate vineyard. The wine undergoes careful fermentation and is matured in oak barrels, contributing to its rich texture and nuanced flavors. It is suitable for both vegetarians and vegans.

The wine estate
Deakin Estate’s vineyards are in the Big Rivers wine region in the southwestern corner of the state of New South Wales, Australia. The estate was founded in 1967 and was planted to premium wine grapes which were sold as fruit until 1980 when a winery facility was built. The Deakin Estate portfolio entered a new chapter in 2020 when it was purchased by Calabria Family Wines. Their aim is to achieve the very best quality fruit from the vineyards whilst sustaining their precious environment. They adopt sustainable production methods, ensuring support other plant species and organisms.

Food and wine
This Chardonnay complements creamy pasta dishes, quiches or roasted chicken. The wine's bright acidity also makes it a great match for grilled seafood.. Refer also to our food and wine pairing guide, click here.

Did you know?
The Big Rivers Zone is New South Wales' large catchment area encompassing the four regions of the Murray Darling, Perricoota, Riverina and Swan Hill. With four distinct wine regions, Big Rivers Zone stretches across incredibly different countryside and climates, but the common thread is spectacular scenery, heritage towns and drawcard wines. The vastly differing climates, soils and temperatures allow for the production of cool climate whites and bold reds.
