Why we recommend this wine
We are always on the lookout for wines to drink with oysters and for wines made by family owned winemakers who follow organic practices. This ticks all the boxes.

The wine
Organic practices are followed in vineyard and winery and the wine is Certified Organic by Ecocert. It is made from the Melon de Bourgogne grape. The vines were planted in the village of Vertou in 1950 and 1987 and are grown on gravel which not only give the wine a mineral, slightly salty aspect but also the capacity to age. The 'sur lie' designation is given to Muscadets that have been kept on the lees for more than 4 months and have not been racked or filtered prior to bottling which always takes place on the last day of June following the vintage.

The wine estate
Made from bought-in grapes by Pierre Luneau at Domaine du Verger which is situated at Le Landreau in the Western Loire, 20km south east of Nantes.

Food and wine
Buttery lime wines are ideal with fish and other seafood and it also pairs well with a tuna steak pan-fried in butter and lemon. Also see our guide to pairing food and wine here.

Did you know?
Muscadet is made from the grape variety Melon de Bourgogne and is not to be confused with a Bourgogne Blanc which is a Chardonnay from Burgundy.
